Turbo charged delivery: Only 140 deeds to reach 1 000 in City’s #FestiveDeedsChallenge

07 December 2023

Exciting progress as the City reaches the delivery of 860 title deeds with only 140 to go in its Festive Deeds Challenge of creating 1 000 new homeowners by the end of December.

'I set the challenge to turbo charge housing delivery with the ambitious target of making 1 000 new homeowners by the end of December and I am ecstatic to state we are well on our way with 860 new homeowners already benefitting and 140 to go. This Festive Deeds Challenge goes beyond a target of 1 000 new homeowners; it sends the signal that we have shifted gears and we are putting in place new ways of heightening delivery, at scale. Watch this space. We will be looking at further boosting all our delivery programmes in the new year.

'We've set aside a total of some R21,6 million this year to deliver title deeds

'We have more than 12 000 title deeds on the Human Settlement's registry and our Festive Deeds Challenge aims to make a very real difference to the lives of our residents by enabling empowerment for generations to come. This is part of our journey to Build Cape Town. Together,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Councillor Carl Pophaim.
